What fuel are you guys using ?

My turbo tends to run on for a few seconds after switching off the ignition.

My guess is that 95 Ron/regular fuel isn't suitable for a 1989 metro turbo based conversion.

I use v power with castrol valve master plus. It has octane booster with lead replacement.

Is there any value in using this? I already have unleaded head inserts and running fuel injection Eaton super charger. I already use 98 Shell V Power.

Supposedly Shell fuels contains the least percentage ethanol - in particular super unleaded.

Castrol valve master plus increased my friends fuel mileage - a tech in the Merecedes club stated that every 5th tankful needed the lead replacement addictive as opposed to every tank full but I add it each time.

To the original poster... What's the engine spec? Standard? Any mods?

What I gather is that Tesco super unleaded has amongst the highest ethanol content and Increasing ethanol can increase the potential for pinking/running on on older cars without fancy knock sensors.

I would expect ethanol to have the opposite effect.

I only use the additive cause I have an leaded head. V power is your best bet. I remember a test being done across all the major sellers and V power was the best

The interweb has left me with that impression too.

Bought some Millers VSPe to try out. I want the lead replacement element and the octane boost/ethanol 'correction' seems appealing too.

I'd say you defo need something, especially if you've junked the boost modulation. The Metty had pretty high compression for a turbo.

Try using cooler plugs, my turbo used to run on especially if it was hot. Changed the plugs to bpr7es and no more problems.

Never thought of changing the plugs
