Hi all I've been given a gt1752 turbo for my mini from a saab but i think its from a new saab as its slightly different to the old one and the flange to bolt to the manifold is smaller. is it possible to get a conversion plate to put between the two or is it not worth the hassle and just selling it and getting another turbo.

one more question... if i was to get another turbo what would people recommend that i can bolt onto my metro turbo manifold?

Engine spec is:

metro turbo cylinder head

head face skimmed

ported and polished throughout

bigger maestro turbo valves fitted

new valve guides

double valve springs

1:5 roller rockers

arp head bolt kit

titanium push rods

new cam followers

kent md286 cam

metro turbo crankshaft

block rebored +20 thou

block face skimmed

med 4 bolt centre main strap

1275 A+ con rods end to end balanced

omega forged 18cc dished pistons

lightweight forged piston rings from MED

arp rod bolts

twin chain vernier timing gear

MED ultralight flywheel and backplate

MED turbo clutch

MED grey clutch cover

MED competition drive straps

MED en16t drive strap bolts

jack knight sc dog box

mini spares x pin diff

1752 is a great turbo,

I have seen a few solutions, slotting the mounting holes on the turbo is a popular one,

do check the shaft for play though and also oil in the housings, the 17is a bit more fragile than the t3 as everythings a bit smaller, but rebuild kits are available.

thanks mate, the turbo i have been given is brand new so hasn't got any play in shaft, ill get a picture of the size comparison to the manifold as I'm not sure if slotting the holes would be a good idea

286? Surely that's gonna be too wild for a turbo build, most people on turbominis run na mg, phase 2 , sw5 or 266?

Nice spec though!

so this is the problem I'm dealing with, would slotting the holes be bit extreme as it is quite a difference between the two?

and i think i will need to modify the hole on the exhaust housing to be a bit bigger to improve flow as its small then the manifold.

here you go, I have seen some washer things to spread the load as per the last pic,

also a 286 will be crap, swap it for an SW5, MG metro NA (kent 500),  266 or Kent 274i

Nope,

oh yeah, I also forgot, yep square out the inlet of the turbo a bit, also it might be worth grinding the fins back in the manifold too...
