Have you checked that the adjusters were rotated the right way? If wrong, the shoes seem to tighten up, but in fact are just pushed sideways and tight at one end, which does not help the bleeding process. I can't categorically say that a mis-tightened adjuster will back off by itself, as I ever noticed when it happened to me, but it might.

Turn them in the direction of normal wheel rotation on each side of the car.If that was the problem, all will then be well.
