The front of the front wheel arch is touching my tyres, when they are turned near to full lock. The problem is that I recently welded on a new front end and did not know that spacers needed to be fitted between the front panel and the subframe when welding it on to give the tyres extra room, the car was then resprayed, I am worried about damaging the paint if I need to cut or bend the arches to get them to clear the wheels.

It is an mpi mini with 12x6 wheels and plastic arches that sit over the original arches, these however don't extend all the way down to the front valance and therefore would not cover any damage up if I were to bend or cut the arches.

Very very stuck here, Any suggestions to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

No spacers fitted of than the mounts. Yes shims were used on old solid mount cars and could be used in some cases.

Sounds like non standard wheel size (tyres) and or ride height.

You could fit the rack movement reduce ring spacers (if The rack is the version with out.

Or you are cutting the wings or changing the tyres/wheels.

Hi thanks for the response

The tyres are standard falken 12x6's and fitted perfectly well within the old front end.

The ride height is not the problem as I have fitted all new cones and it is currently sitting very high as they have not settled yet.

The steering rack limiter rings would be a good option however it is not on full lock that the wheels touch the arches but a little before full lock, so I am afraid this wouldn't fix the problem either.

I was thinking that one option could be if I remove the spot welds from the mounting brackets on the front end panel and try and wedge some spacers in between the front end and the subframe, although this is a lot of work and I am not sure whether it will help at all?
