Good Evening

I'm considering buying a Rover Mini which sadly has a crack in the left front wing (see photo).

I don't have any experience with classic mini's and wondered whether or not repairing this is considered a big / expensive job.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

looks like its been filler'd to me and i guess over rust, would take an expert to go look at the car and check for all other rust areas it will cost you a few quid but could save you 1000's of them

I would be wary here, someone has filled the joint between the wings and front panel.

Hi

I suspect that will have a fair bit of filler in there

Thanks all. It's up for £3.5k which is a good price given what else I have seen however I am worried although it looks good it might be hiding numerous issues!

There should be a visible seam between the wing and front panel (see bellow) but someone has filled over it.

It may be wise to avoid it as at some point the filler will need the stripping out to correct it and that could just be the tip of the iceberg.

Thanks Tupers... looks like it's missing the seam as you say!

I'd be extra cautious as to why that seam has been filled over. Take a magnet to it and see where else the filler is hiding for starters...

I would bet that car is absolutely full of filler over loads of rust.

Allow several thousands of pounds for a full body re-build unless you can do all the welding, finishing and painting yourself.

I would be very cautious also. On my car I've filled those front seams for the smoothed look however I have a project on here and therefore plenty of documtation to show it's not to hide rust. Unless the seller can provide photo proof of an actual repair I would steer clear

It looks to me like the car in the photo has had a new front end and respray, it could just be that the car has had a light resto and then a full respray with the seams filled...

It may be perfectly OK, but you have to expect rust on any Mini as its an unoptional extra built in....
