When i start the engine the front wheels lock up straight away.is this a servo issue ?? If so should i bypass the servo . I am a big guy and have driven old coopers without servos.

Hi Dave,
It sure seems that the servo is at fault, i removed ( by-passed the servo ) on my mini when it started leaking and have noticed that the breaking capabilities are really not affected although a bit more pedal pressure is needed when breaking hard.
You could probably find a replacement but, if it is a second hand unit then the same could happen, i would try the brakes without the servo and see how you go.

I've not seen a Benditalia servo, so I'm guessing it's a conventional set up, but it sounds like the servo air valve is passing. It may be possible to find new seals if you remove the valve, strip it down, measure what's in there and search around for new seals - maybe a good clean and smear with red brake grease will sort it.

I have 1974 innocenti cooper s,it is fitted with Benditalia servo unit (spares no longer available ).

So that is a remote servo? If yes just replace with another and keep the old one till you can find a repair kit that fits.
