Hi all, I am considering buying  a hot mini with a view to prepping it for Classic Hotrod racing. Trouble is that said Mini whilst most suitable generally has a carbon fibre floor pan. In you people`s opinions do you think that replacing said floor with a steel one will be a feasible proposition?  Thanks for reading.

IMHO ...

It depends on why the floor was replaced / what it may be hiding in any overlap areas where it is bonded ?

has it been crashed / moved the toe board subframe area ? - hence the new floor

has the shell moved about / flexed while the new floor was fitted or since

I assume the car isn't / won't be road legal

it will need a fair bit of bracing / checking before new floor is fitted

what other bits are carbon fibre ?

everything is do-able , just takes time / money

probably best to think of it as a rusty floor replacement , as that was probably the original problem

I think you might find it only covers the original steel floor.

If I remember rightly that's a vanity panel sold by Mini Sport. It should still have the steel floors bellow it.

Well done all of you, I feel in my bones that you are right about this. I don`t claim expertise but when I read "carbon fibre floor" I did think that the integrity of the shell would be rather compromised if the whole thing had been replaced as such. Thanks again, what a great site this to be sure.

                                                            Happy new year all!

ignore what I said - only a tray / insert

have seen boot floors bonded in , a well as rear seat panels

I would still have a good look underneath , in case water has got in between

Just heard from the owner and all is as you said. Steel floors in place with tray insert above. There is a build thread on here and now I`m just waiting to see what he thinks of my offer...............
