Hi for a while now I've noticed my boot lid has been sticking out at the bottom on the corners next to the hinges to the point it doesn't touch the seal. I've tried fitting a later fit to body seal but all that has achieved is making it harder to close the boot lid and it still sticks out on the corners.

Is there any way I can adjust this to make it sit closer to the body in the corners?

Its on a 73 clubman saloon, not sure if it's the original boot lid but I'm assuming they're all the same.

Might sound daft but are the hinges on the right sides ??

I remember this from an old post somewhere

What is the gap in the centre bellow the number plate like?

It almost looks as if the curve across the boot is different to that of the body.

Looks too far out to be the gasket missing, but are they fitted to both the boot lid and the hinge panel?

You mentioned you mounted the later type of seal--mounted to opening instead of boot lid?  Can you mount that later seal type to the older

models that had the lid/clip seal?

If it made it harder to close, I'd watch the bottom as you slowly close and latch lid.  -All that force of a new seal may be trying to overcome the hinge

mounting area below, forcing distortion/bending?  That area of body may not be as strong as the reinforced construction of the boot lid--something's

gotta give.  -Just a thought
