So basically if I go to 10 inch wheels with less offset, fit limiters and choose a tyre which although will be similar in overall diameter to 12inch tyre aim for one a tad smaller I may just get away with not cutting wing....? Sounds like I'll simply won't know until I try it as everyones mini is different with regards to suspension height etc...

If you change the diameter of the tyre significantly, then your speedometer reading will be incorrect.

A wheel with less offset will be the biggest help in my mind..

I have some 10x6 comics with 7.4 discs in the front and spaced drums in the rear and I get no rubbing and theres no trimming. Heres a pic.
