Interesting! Mk3 Mini with pickup rear end?

No, pickup that's been converted to later doors. It'll be going back to the original door frames and outer hinges.
looking at the interior too and under bonnet pictures it does look more like mk3 front end with pick up rear and that is easier to do to get the internal hinged doors to fit. It does look stunning though and good luck with it all

Thank you! :)

Small amount of progress made over the weekend. Seats, carpets, dash, and the ceiling mounted speakers removed. I originally thought that the seats were from an mg metro, but actually appear to have been originally in a mk3 escort xr3i.

Also had a rummage about to see what all was in the back under the cover and found all sorts including a full set of saloon blue lenses for front n rear, what looks to be a short shift gear selector, new set of spark plugs, couple of spare wheels, steering rack, and a few other bits b bobs.

Little bit of progress over the last couple of nights. Load bay cover removed. Again, someone has made a good job of this, but the wood below the covering was really wet, so it's heading for the bin. Likewise with the wood within the load bay. Pleased to see what was behind it on the side panels, but the floor is a sheet metal replacement. Apparently the pickup was green when the previous owner purchased it in the late 90s and that's what colour is below the black on the floor, so who knows how long it's been there. Will see what's underneath in due course.

It's needing a good clean out and dried out, but ran out of time. Oldest son was on hand to help too which was great.

Cover off:

Most of the wood lining removed (needing cleaned and dried off):

Helper looking pleased with the progress so far:

thank you. lot of work ahead, but looking forward to working it through.

quite possibly, yes. Took the view that it was no worse than some of the other shells etc that were on Ebay, and with the MG metro engine wheels etc that came with it, it was certainly worth it. It'll all work out fine :)

This is remarkably similar to yours with a Vtec engine. Think I've seen your pickup somewhere in the dim dark past, probably in Scotland as I see it was a Caledonian  Mini Club car at sometime in its life.

That club still exists by the way http://www.caledonianminiclub.co.uk/  if you want to get in touch maybe for a bit of history on it.

Thanks for posting up. It was at the scottish IMM back in the early 2000s and at a few other shows too, so quite possibly seen it.

Wee bit of time in the garage tonight and managed to work the passenger side rear arch off of the car. Quite a struggle but it's off, and in one piece too. I'll post a picture up when I get a chancel but surprised just how much of an area the arch covered down the side of the pickup.

Drivers side rear arch removed tonight and a bit of a mess behind it. Front arches and groundhog front next. Had a good prod about and as expected there's loads of filler on the body. Thinking it would be beneficial to have the shell media blasted when stripped to see what I'm working with.

Been working away to remove the body kit from the Pup, and it's now off. Pretty much in one piece, although the parts have quite a bit of filler on them. The front arches seemed to fe homemade from what I can tell. With the kit off, the wheels, especially the rears, are very exposed.

Interior has started to be removed, and now the Pup's been turned round in the garage ready to strip the front end and remove the engine and subframe. Looks like the original colour has been light grey.

Plenty of filler all over the shell, and the floor is pretty crusty in places, so thinking that the best option would be to have the shell media blasted locally so that I can see exactly what I'm working with. I'm not sure how much there'll be left!
