When I stripped one of my vans it was horrible and I had the same idea, but when I totted up what I needed to make good it was not viable.now looking how far you have got and knowing the door situation your going to be in the same boat as I was but up to you.

Try to enjoy it it gets worse before it gets better

Yes, but all will be fine. Picked it up for a reasonable price and will just chip away at it. Did you keep the van shell, or what was left if it?

Those arches were hiding a lot! Keen to see you get this sorted and returned to former glory.

Picked up two external hinge doors on the way to the mini fair show today, and now have a plan for sorting the door frame change too.

Little more progress. Windscreen out, rear part way out (think it's glued in!!) bonnet off, front lights out and wiring cleared back, and getting ready to take the wings and front panel off this week.

Passenger door furniture off, and some other bits n pieces off too. Skip run to get rid of the load cover, wood lining, old carpets and bits of trim etc that won't be of any use.

Had a nosey at the doors I picked up last weekend on the way to the Mini Fair show. Seem to be in pretty good condition, and certainly decent at £50 each.

Still in the box, but will be seeing some action this week as I take the front end off:

That's what I thought. Always worth a little direct message and bid on eBay as you never know. Some catches and a handle in one of the door pockets too.

Sounds good on the wind up mechanism :)

I see you have your tissues ready to catch the tears of sadness from finding loads of rust ;)

On a serious note are they slitting disks to the right for your grinder? Ignore me if they are but the really thin slitting disks work great for mini bodywork just as a tip.

Managed to grab an hour on the pup, cracked open the grinder box, and cut the wings off and removed the drivers door. One snapped stud on the door removal, but came off fine. Light bar / roll bar removed too.

Nice, those inner wings don't look to bad on the rust side, I still cannot believe how much those arches covered the car! poor old pup!
