Hi all. I have searched a few forums, including this one for an answer to my question without too much luck. The question, and I'm sure the answer is here somewhere, is: I have recently bought a 1994 Cooper spi and I want to rid it of the immobiliser. The unit is a 3as and it came with one remote which is a 3 button one. What I have seen on the 'net, it should have a single button one? When I first got the car the unit was in working order but as I've put I wish to either bridge it out or completely do away with it so as I can install my own preferred unit. Some posts say it is quite easy (but how?), others say it is linked to the the ecu. Any help and guidance would be appreciated. The car is stripped at the moment waiting for its respray so dash is out. One other thing,it had partially installed remote door locking which again I do not require so that has all been stripped out including relays attached to the 3as unit.

Those 3AS units are quite rare now so keep hold of it or offer it on ebay especially if the fob works with it, the fobs are £85 each just for ones that work, the proper single button fobs are like Unicorn milk!

I have seen some wiring diagrams for it maybe in the later Haynes manual?

Thanks for the heads up. I've looked in Haynes and it does show a ecu diagram, but it doesn't say which one. 3as it 5as. I know my way round car electrics but with conflicting posts regarding what I can and cannot do is clouding the issue. If I can bridge the wiring entering the immobiliser so as car runs etc I will be happy. The immobiliser and remote could then find itself on eBay. Thank you for your reply.

You could try www.remotekey.co.uk on the home page click on rover, then on mini on the page that comes up, you could give them a call and see if they can give you some advice.

You could also try https://www.technoze...m-ecu-services/ they specify repairs to the 5as but should also have a good knowledge of the 3as

PS if in future you do get rid of your 3as and fob PM me please I would be interested.

Hi. Thanks for that. Still no positive help as yet. Obviously I won't disconnect until I know I can.

All sorted. Sat down with wiring diagram and solved it. I will now put the 3as on eBay, gumtree, etc.
