I'll have a look. But I don't think it came off a car with spots

Bought a moggy minor speedo off ebay that arrived today. Got it for the bezel, I prefer the sharper looking one and for some reason I think it looks more military.

Now I have matched the original milage to the car and whilst the speedo was in bits, thought I may as well spray it. The bezel and the shroud under the glass all done.

It really makes the black face look crisper for some reason (well in the flesh it does).

Relay is radiator fan I reckon. Green/white goes to the rad temp switch.

I wouldn't want  a can full of petrol  as a rear crumple zone either. Plastic one for water could be as handy.

That's interesting, did carb cars have an aux fan. May be an early 90's loom? That would be great if it was as I want to put a rad switch and fan in and that would savedoing some wiring.
The jerry will be empty. Asthetics only

I think it's an spi loom that's been messed with.

Everyone likes to see a nice delivery arrive and the excitement of opening the boxes. Somehow its not the same enjoyment when the credit card bill arrives. :ohno:

Right, started on the engine. Cam and followers in. Crank and main bearings in, but have hit a snag. My thrust bearings aren't having it.can get the 2 centre ones in but having issues with the end ones. As if they are too big. Do you ever need slimmer ones at the end. Fyi the thrusts are supposed to be the same thickness as the ones that came out

Thrust washers only go on the centre bearing

You know what I do wonder about me sometimes! I wouldn't mind but this isn't my first engine build. Thanks for the refresher. :-)

Bought some more thrust washers but they didn't exactly slide in. Had to sand them down a bit from 2.35mm to 2.26mm and they went in, but there is no lateral movement with the crank and even though I can turn the crank with everything torqued down I can feel it dragging on the thrusts.

My question is do I need to sand them down a bit more? I'm thinking with them dragging they will cause too much heat. What is the perfect float?
