Well that's a pain. Vacuum diaphragm is being blocked by the oil pipe, even if I move the leads round, its just on the point of where it needs to be. I can't believe the cost of the replacement braided hose.

For near enough the price of a new oil pick up pipe, I could have a 13 core oil cooler and hoses for and just an extra £15. I'm tempted. How things escalate!

I can't say I've ever been crazy about any braided hose here, eventually, I've found, they all leak or weep. Oil Coolers are just as bad.

Have you tried rotating the distributor drive on tooth each way ? That might put the Vacuum Advance Can in a better location.

Just twiddle the drive position so it is better.

Also cheap.

Sorted! 25 degrees ar 4000rpm. Afr 12:1. Just need to go for a spin tomorrow and test it under load. Advance readings staying nice and stable. One thing I did notice was the strobe not picking up much signal until its revving (both new and old strobes). The spark on the plugs is much stronger than before.

Nice work mate ;D

If you are wanting to get the strobe to work at very low revs, try opening the plug gaps up but then resent them after sorting the timing.

No guarantee this will work, but sometimes it does.

Does anyone know where i can get ducting from like the standard oem air ducting. I need 70mm ID flexible ducting (the ribbed nylon thick plastic type, not the thin spiral type.

Thanks, but that's the thin spiral type. It splits when you tighten the jubilee clip

Looking for something more like this. Having a split is a bonus. I need it to cover a fibre glass repair on my air intake precleaner pipe. It snapped off the other week whilst on the trailer. Luckily it landed inside the car.

Ha, I was thinking it was a bit ratty. I've come up with another idea, going to rap it in rope.

Set up my timing etc and whilst it ticks over fine as soon a I boot it, the mixture goes off the scale (too rich). Had a word with Stuart G and I suggested may be the jets are too much, which he agreed. Then it dawned on me it could be poor air flow, I had messed about putting my cold air induction on. In doing so i used 2 trimmed down Pipercross sock filters on and squeezed them into the K&N shaped box.I opened the box up, put the original Ramair filter on and it runs fine!

Now need to increase the size of the filter box to get good airflow round the filter so I can seal it up again.
