Anyone else with a chrome/stainless dipstick find that its really hard to see the measurement when using new clean oil? Only way I can see the height of the oil line is to place the dipstick on some paper and see where the oil marks the paper.

Also, when changing my oil today, the magnetic bit of the sump plug was covered in a thick sludge. I've never seen that before, is it normal?

With cleaner oil, it is next to impossible to read I found.

Where the marks are, I grind a flat on one side, it does help I found.

That "THICK SLUDGE" is very fine metal particles + oil.....so the magnet is doing it's job :D
