How old are the cones and dampers and what tyres are you running?

Yes this is what you maybe need:-

MSLMS0400 - Moulton Smootha Ride suspension kit.

An innovative design developed with the specific purpose to take the harshness out of the Mini suspension. This kit totally transforms all dry suspension Minis making a great car more comfortable and easier to drive!!

The special rubber suspension cones in this kit were designed by Dr Alex Moulton of Moulton Developments, who designed the original Mini dry suspension set up, and are manufactured by Avon VMS who made the original Mini cones. These are combined with specially modified Mini Sport Adjusta Ride units, negative camber and tracking rear brackets and a specially selected set of shock absorbers to create a whole new feel to the Minis ride.

This system is marketed exclusively world wide by Mini Sport.

The Smootha Ride kit includes:

  • 2 x Moulton front suspension cones
  • 2 x Moulton rear suspension cones
  • 2 x Mini Sport fully adjustable front suspension units
  • 2 x Mini Sport fully adjustable rear suspension units,
  • 1 x Set of Mini Sport rear negative camber and tracking brackets
  • 2 x Boge front shock absorbers
  • 2 x Boge rear shock absorbers
  • Comprehensive fitting and setting up instructions.
This kit is intended for use on Minis with 10" and 12" wheels. If you are using 13" wheels please use the MSLMS0401 kit.

I needed to soften up an MPI for similar reasons. I was going to buy a Moulton kit, they look good and seem to have great results.

We went a different path and had fitted springs from Minitastic along with good GAZ shocks. Absolutely brilliant. Still feels the same handling etc. We set the ride height a bit higher to give the springs some distance to work and played with the shocksettings. - thanks to CC Mini's for the help.

Minitastic do them in 3 different spring rates and we went for the middle one - fast road, because we have 13x7's on. If I was doing it again, I'd get the softer normal road ones.
