I've managed to snap the spindle on my HIF44....(I know).

Looks like I can get a service/repair kit from Minispares but I'm wondering how easy/fiddly a job it is and any pointers on doing it?
Thanks

The shaft itself is easy to change. Simply remove the linkages/springs etc from either end (making careful note of where everything goes) remove the butterfly and withdraw the shaft from the carb body. The bushes in the body are worth doing to, though you will need a suitably sized punch to enable you to press them out and the new ones in.

Phil.

Thanks for that. The near side has just sheared off so everything should be ok there and the kit comes with the bushes by the looks of it.... Just really annoying though....

How the hell did you manage that?

It's easy enough, if you get stuck, bring the carb and spindle down to me and we'll sort it

An easy way of removing and fitting the spindles is searching for a screw with a flat head that got the right diameter.
A few nuts and a flat blade screwdriver and you'll easily get the bushes in and out :) 12825280_955058901228970_1942671320_n_zp

I used m4, M5 or m6 flathead screws for this, can't remember wich ones.
