Hi all,

Recently, the mini's indicators stopped working, following a period where they were intermittent. I initially suspected the relay, and have changed it to no effect, then I suspected the hazard light switch, but I've pulled it out and it all functions as it should. The odd thing is, I can still get it to indicate, if I pull the indicator, then put the hazards on, it indicates most of the time. Knocking the indicator off does not stop it indicating, and putting the hazards on before the indicators doesn't produce the same effect. This 'latching' behaviour is totally at odds with my understanding of the system, the order switches are pressed in can't have an effect, surely? I'd really appreciate any advice on how to get the indicators back, this is really puzzling me!

Thanks, Tom

The Indicators and hazard lights more or less use the same circuits, if that makes sense to you.

What can happen is you may develop a fault either in the wiring or in the switches of either, and it will play you merry hell.

As you have a problem, you will need to check both, additionally, look at all the wiring, connectors and both switches. The hazard light switch can give you bother even if it switches on fine, as it is the contacts inside the switch that can give up the ghost.

You will just have to try different things, and work through it methodically.

Full circuit is in the FAQs Electrical and as pointed out above RC the hazard does do the connection for the Hazards and Indicators internally, very likely the switch contacts inside, either strip and clean the switch or replace it.
