Hello All,

I am looking for help to identify a mini thirty belonging to my french neighbour.

The Vin plate shows

SAXX L2S 1S 21 447 ###

(last three numerals not shown on-line)

The trim code is PMA and paint code COG

Car was first registered in France in December 89.

It has the right paint colour "metallic cherry red but the Thirty logos on the rear flanks have been replaced. Also has beige trim?

Is it a geniuine Thirty or just a mayfiar that colour?

The S in the 9th position indicates French Mayfair but were certain ones "Thirties" ?

Any help much appreciated, the car is not too bad but had rust under the windscreen seal.

I want to give him the added motivation to save it, knowinng it is a real 30 would help.

Regards,

Andrew

Hello,

Thanks for your replies.

Yes Anorak, photos would help, but it was dark + cold... he's got it outside without a cover!

Will try and get some at the weekend.

Regards

My Thirty registered october 89 has the similar vin ,although as mentioned does not have (s) as the 9th digit, but has (N). Although mine is the black version.

no offence meant, but if you can get a good set of photos from all angles including the interior and engine then if it is a mini 30 people on here can tell you exactly what is standard and what is not. the 30's are a very distinctive model and easy to judge, even down to colour of indicator lenses, wipers etc. all the bits that are often changed.

if its not a 30 then we should be able to figure out what it is :proud:

Anorak,

No offence taken...

A good point will get the photos and post them up.

Might be a few days though it is very very cold and dark...

Regards,

Andrew

Hello again all,

In my attempt to  identify my french neighbours Mini 30 or not some photos were requested.

Well quite a few weeks later but here they are:

20170122_Mini30p2_zps5q1ndyfs.jpg

Pin stripes and rear wing logos have long gone...or were never there?

Any further comments much appreciated, as to if it is a real Mini 30

Andrew

Well the colour looks correct, the interior is obviously wrong for a 30.

It could well be but i'm not sure if cherry red was used on any other Mini models...

Is there nothing on the registration certificate?

if its is a 30 its had a lot changed... even the clocks are not 30. they should have black faces not the blue cooper type ones. carpet is wrong, steering wheel wrong, wheel arches wrong.

looks like it has more in common with a mayfair than a 30, could simply have had a mini 30 bonnet badge fitted ???

may sound a daft question but is the rear numberplate light housing body colour or black ???
