Thanks for the comments folks! just going to stick with P.B for the moment! till they pull the plug

on my 3rd party hosting, at the moment I pay for AD free, but as far as paying $399 for full Boonah :bah:

Anyways on with the job, been working away at it,

DSC_0002_zps0cn7hpwy.jpg

DSC_0003_zpslwv04lgo.jpg

got engine cleaned up and ready for prepping and paint,

DSC_0006_zpsdpp38xjf.jpg

bulkhead cleaned up ready for primer and paint, most of it had been coated in Cadulac so only a

couple of bits surface rust which was removed and treated with De ox before priming,

DSC_0001_zps0tlszqua.jpg

Engine compartment primed, seam sealed and painted!, lower areas and under the wings were first

done with stone chip then primed and painted, have found some spray on Bitumen to hopefully

emulate the original Coach-builders finish (blooming messy stuff so we will see) certainly the

original worked well in keeping the rust at bay.

Started cleaning up parts and repairing wiring loom and refitting some, front subframe

cleaned up painted and refitted! need the space in garage.

DSC_0002_zpstbcpcq9c.jpg

inside boot primed and painted, got to be one of the most difficult parts to paint, especially with a

full size gravity feed HVLP spray gun, Happy days!

Engine cleaned up primed and painted, going by what paint was still on it and being an 1098cc I believe

this is how it was painted originally, just got to replace the driveshaft and gear linkage seals they

were not leaking but think it would be sensible to replace them.

More to follow thanks for looking.

Once again thanks for the comments! its good to see that by the amount of views

this gets the likes that people find it interesting  :highfive: the jobs to do get less

each day!! at the moment I am just waiting on a call to go and pick up the seats

that have had some work done, whilst at MCR day at Beaulieu  I had a look at the

Maniflow stand! and after a few phone calls ect this arrived last week,

DSC_0001_zpsxjegyh4z.jpg

DSC_0002_zps7dbqhgus.jpg

just exactly what I had in mind, although probably not exactly the same as what was originally fitted

but as good as, did try to source one localy but was not impressed by what the companies

I looked at were offering,

Next job was to prepare the inside for painting,

DSC_0003_zpsa2nv9nnw.jpg

DSC_0004_zpsrzwoljif.jpg

DSC_0005_zpsp7cesgvf.jpg

As when all the trimming is done and all other interior parts fitted ,(no painted parts will be seen)

so the painting was for protection only, 3coats of Lechlar epoxy primer followed by3coats wet on wet

of Damask Red top coat,

DSC_0001_zpsbnbakgta.jpg

All masked up and started dry block sanding the Epoxy primer which was applied a couple of months

ago got it at a reasonable height to save my 70year old knees  ;D

DSC_0002_zpsy43ljujf.jpg

1 job I have been putting of for ages cleaned the Cadulac wax treatment from the front part of inside

bonnet it had done its job very well with just a little surface rust on one of the buffer pads,

biggest job was removing the glue that had been used to stick sound deadning pad on,

in fact most of the work on painting the inside of the car has been cleaning of glue :bah:

Going to over to Tatton Park on Wednesday so going to see about getting Vinyl material for

roof covering from a place that Panky on here recommended some time ago hopefully another part

sorted.

Thanks for looking more to follow.

The engine looks great, couple of questions as I'm about to restore a 1275 motor: what did you clean it with and did you paint it assembled or separate parts? Third and last question, what paint did you use? thanks, JohnR

I used products from Frost Restoration Products! namely Marine Degreaser, Por15 metal prep, then a bit of work with wire brush

ect, Paint used VHT primer then VHT black engine paint , it was painted as is less distributer and oil pressure switch!

still got to paint bottom of gearbox casing when I get it back on engine crane. Its only done 25k so had no oil leaks!!!

From memory and what was found on cleaning I believe the whole thing was painted black originally, being a 1098cc,

hope that helps.
