Thanks again for the comments folks! the body shell is now painted, only some odds and sods

still to do, been spending a bit of time trying to source some of the other bits and pieces needed

to finish of the trimming and carpets, also had a trip over to Minispares York picked up a load of

parts, certainly worth the £5 for TMF discount !!

some photos of progress,

kNwUKX7.jpg

Glacier White done first then masked up for next stage,

15LdVOb.jpg

Biege next only the gutters, door and window checks will be seen,

6ur2HSC.jpg

The door checks and inside of panels were done next never took photos of this stage,

doors then refitted for painting, done like that so as to get break lines between colours

all in line, because of lack of space rear half including doors were painted first ,

Once paint has hardened wil need a run over with machine polisher.

Hope these load up OK  :shy:

On the history of this car as said before I got previous owners details from DVLA! couple of

weeks ago went to one of the addresses supplied, but the house had changed hands however

the Gent whom answered the door found the address of the previous owner, so the next week

I visited that address!! big result the 96yr old Gentleman whom had owned the Contessa from

1982 till  2009 had a smile from ear to ear when I told him that it was being restored, he also

gave me a old photo of it and asked me to keep in touch and take it to let him see it when finished.

cn9D0ZX.jpg

He still owns the registration no but said its not for sale pity as this number was on it when

Oyler finished building it.

I must say that folks of my adopted home in WestYorkshire are great and have been more than

helpfull, the old gent now lives in Meltham outside Huddersfield and it seems the car has never

been outside its local area.

Thanks for looking

The paint job looks really good. I think you've used the wrong imgur option. You need to use the last on the list on the right.

Paint looks great. Nice piece of the cars history you have uncovered. Looking at the picture the previous owner gave you I think the grill quite suits it in an strange way (I didn't like it at all the start with). Great work

and what a result with a previous keeper

Great news on finding the previous owner and the old photo which is a good thing to have for proving this very rare cars provenance!

Would he perhaps give you first option on the numberplate if it ever came up for sale?

I have also updated the thread on the Mk1 Forum with the latest news:-
