Hi guys,
I was wondering if you would be able to tell me what sort of racing I will be able to do with the mini I am building,
It has a carbon fibre roof, carbon fibre doors, carbon fibre front end, carbon boot lid and boot floor, full multipoint roll cage, recaro bucket seats and takata harness, seats and harness are in date. It has a honda vtec conversion for the engine.
Regards Alex

You may struggle to race is some classes and championships of circuit racing with a carbon roof and Honda engine, some championships may let you but you will probable end up in a class with cars much much faster than a mini will be.

Formula Libre class in sprints/hillclimbs due to the engine change.

Is it an approved cage? If not you'll need to check that it meets the minimum sizes stated in the blue book. Also as mentioned you'd fall into sports libre category if you went into sprints/hillclimbs which would pip you up against some very stiff competition. Alright if you're entering just for a laugh but not great if you're hoping to come away with any trophies.

Just as an example you could come up against a certain turbocharged hayabusa mini which as you would expect isn't a slouch.

There is this

http://www.theminifo...launch-in-2017/

Note for hillclimbing and most likely circuit you will need a HANS device or to not use a trade name a FHR which will need a suitable mounting point at the rear to give horizontal rear straps +/- 5 degrees.

Take a look at Javelin sprint series, again you'll never win anything because of the class you'll be in.

The rules and regulations are much more relaxed

As a slight nod to the OP's question, would it be a good idea for those on TMF to collate a kind of motorsport discipline compendium to list what TMF members could do with their mini's?  Maybe the list could include what events need what prep and safety equipment, what licence is required and ultimately will they be competitive and how much will it cost?  I can certainly add to the rallying side of things.

On to the question in hand..........forget any rallying with those panels.....don't think you can do any with a flip front.

Racing and turbo's - if you do sprinting for example, the turbo will factor up your engine cc's and ultimately put you in the 'silly' fast class......good luck with that!!!!!

I think you will be looking at racing against spaceframe mini's really with the mod's you have listed.  Cars that are fully sorted and mega bucks spent.....and super bloomin quick!  I'm not saying your car isn't quick (im sure it is rapid!) but there is quick.....and then there is silly quick!

Best of luck though mate.  Competition is insane fun at whatever level and once bitten it really gets under your skin and into your soul......god i sound like a hippy!

Hopefully someone can come up with something your car can compete in and be competitive.

That would put you in the over 2L class as there's a multiplier for forced induction. Running up against the likes of this...

As i say its unlikely you'll be competitive amongst a lot of the cars in the libre class but would still be a laugh doing it. Hill climbs are always a good weekend out

Edit:

Oh and going over 2L will mean you have to get a national A license as well
