Cheers, still would like to know if there is any difference between the spi and mg metro. I would go for the metro but I already have an spi cam so if they are the same then happy days. If they are not then a new kent 500 is probably the best bet.

spi cam is the same as all the other "normal" 1275 cams inclusing the turbo cam at 230 degrees intake and 252 eg exhaust duration, the MG metro cam is a good upgrade at 252 deg intake 268 deg duration.

Cool, so not the same. Guess I'll get the nearest thing to a new mg metro cam, a kent 500

yeah good choice,

cams I would recomend for turbo ( in order of performance)

Std A+   >    MG Metro    >      Kent 274i   >     Avon bar Phase 2    >     Re13T

all those will woek great on a supercharged engine too, but you can get away with a bit more before drivability becomes an issue, Ive heard of 286's being used but that would be pretty radical.

as an exaple Ive seen turbo engines make 180hp in the MG metro cam,

I would definately prefer an MG Metro cam, but being second hand puts me off, as I don't know what to look out for.

This one is on ebay at the moment, but looks a bit sorry for its self. wasn't sure of the can be reground. What I don't understand about regrinding is surely taking a bit off the surface with alter the lift of the cam lobe? or can that be compensated with a 1.5 rocker set?

When they regrind, the normal take more material off the Base circle so you understand up with more lift, also just to be clear the mg metro cam is the same profile as the kc 500,
