Hi Guys,

I have been advised from a fellow mini enthusiast that it may be time to replace my rear subframe due to it being heavily rusted in the key stress points.

I've seen on Mini Sport that there are two types of rear subframe that could be for my car, which is a 1991 Cooper, as one rear subframe is listed as a 'pre 1991', and the other as a '1991 on' which has exhaust hangers.

Anyone know which one fits my car??

Many Thanks

Charlie Heal

a 91 cooper could be either a carb car or fuel injection, its right on the change point.

thats what the change in subframe is about as the fuel injection cars had different exhaust hangers

if its carb its pre 91 if its injection its 91on

once again mini sport is not very clear on this.

Don't buy it from minisport, they're useless. Minispares will be your better option.

Looking at your profile your car is the carb version. So you want the pre 1991 frame :-)

Geometrically the sub-frames are all identical. The only differences are with the hydrolastic ones which is not an issue for you, and the later ones which had the les-good exhaust hangers.

You can use any of the frames and it is best to use the earlier type of exhaust mountings which have the big 'choc-block' bolted to the front cross member of the rear frame plus a pair of 'cotton-reel' rear mountings.

I always make up the necessary clamps and plates to mount using these mountings and the exhaust is then well-fitted and won't 'fall off'.

As above, buy from Mini Spares.
