I have just fixed my cap's contacts using an old stainless steel band from a CV joint and a fit of fettling (as seen elsewhere on the forum).

 

6mm width on the contact, lower bend and vertical up the cap, 4mm on the upper bend widening to a 10mm for the spade connector stop and 7.7mm for the spade connector. I knew my Aldi micrometer would come in handy.

Nice to see the art of "Fettling" to save a few quid, is still alive and well. :proud:

Have you tried bridging the cap connectors out? That should bring the red light on if it doesn't then you'll need to get the switch out the dash and see what you've got there next.
