Evening all, I am converting the brakes that are going onto my Classic Hot Rod from dual line to single line. I have a kit to convert the Metro 4 pots to single line and have bought myself a used complete pedal box, in-line servo and tandem master cylinder (the heavy duty job fitted to later cars). My question is - what do I need to do to the master cylinder to make it single line? Just blank an outlet? If so which one? How say you.

Many thanks for reading. Hazel ;D

You'll need a single line master cylinder

Any pics of this hot rod? Sounds cool :-)

Big can of worms coming up  :ohno:

You will probably be voiding your insurance unless the car was manufactured with a single line system and I can`t see why you want to take a giant leap backwards on such a safety critical item as the dual line system is simple enough to fit ?

This is going to be used solely on 1/4 mile oval tracks (same as stock cars) So I don`t need a lot of braking and insurance doesn`t come into it. I`ll do a build diary on here when I got a bit more to show. At the moment it is a shell, a partly built front subframe and so many components my head is spinning, lol

You will need an adjustable regulator fir the rear brakes. Weather this is one il line to th rear brakes like I have done or an adjustable pedal box with two seperate MCs connected on an adjustable bar to alter force applied is up to you.

All I will say is check your regs. You may need two brake systems/lines. Will a mechanical handbrake count as one?

Ok, got it.  I work with a couple of guys that drive big american pickups and old ford pops with v8`s etc as daily drives and us old boys refer to them as hot rods hence my confusion.

interesting. no 4 pot brakes except for Minis that must use the Metro cast 4 pots.

sounds like single line brakes are permitted with no back up.
