I'm about to order a load of new panels from M Machine but wanted to check some things before I went ahead with the order.

The panels that I need are:

LH front floor plus front inner sill

LH rear floor plus inner sill

LH extended door step

RH detailed door step

LH arch to door rear quarter repair panel

LH and RH inner hinge panel

LH inner wing repair front corner panel

RH rear quarter panel

RH rear wheel arch assembly

LH and RH end repair panel rear subframe mounting panel (including mounting bracket)

LH outer sill

Has anyone previously purchased any of these panels from M Machine and they weren't a good fit, such as their outer sill (£23) and the two types of door steps I'm looking to order?

And the RH rear quarter panel (£116) and the RH rear wheel arch assembly (£90) I presume are both heritage panels? I will double check when I order them.

Any guidance and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

M-Machines own panels are usually a pretty good fit, but all panels take a certain amount of fettling. They don't just sell their own they also sell Hadrian / Magnum Panels and Heritage. Their own panels tend to be floor and lower panels (usually getting period detail correct). They will tell you when ask, at the point of order. Also if your become a TMF + member you get discount. Magnum / Hadrian panels vary widely how well they fit. Some are ok and some are unusable in my opinion.

I have used m machine, heritage and magnum on my rebuild, I think you will find the extended doorsteps will be magnum so ask at point of ordering, I bought the lower quarter panel repair panel, but sold it on and fitted a magnum full quarter instead made it much easier especially when replacing inner arch, they fit quite well and only about £30 a side. M machine floors and sills are superb

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to phone up m machine tomorrow and talk to them. If the door steps, door inner hinge panels and the heel board ends were from magnum, would it just be worth just going for heritage versions of them or would they be okay ?

Thanks

Is it a mk1 or mk2 you are doing as you mention inner hinge panels, if so I used heritage inner panels and m machine outers that come complete with the post, very good panels, m machine full door steps for mk1 are also very good. Their rear quarters although extend fully to door post unlike mk3 ones unfortunately have an awkward top section that doesn't include the lip on top. They also manufacture their own heel board panels that are ok, my advice is to give the car a good look over before buying panels as sometimes the rot is further than you think and full panels can be more cost effective.
As for floors don't buy separate front and rear get them in halves, but if floor really bad just swap the lot out as although it's a bit daunting to cut the lot out in one go it's far easier than joint pieces together

Personally I would not touch the Magnum door steps with a barge pole. There was some talk about them sorting the press to crisper the folds but whether that has happened remains to be seen.

The hinge panel if it's full width then I would go Heritage. I know shifty on here uses the three pieces from Magnum to form the complete item but then he has been doing this for a long time.

I used the Heritage inner door post reinforcement panel plus the core. The outer I made myself.

It's a 1990's mini. The panel im referring to is part number 13.14.03.03 on the m machine website. Or would this panel involve a lot of alterations to make fit?

Sorry for the amateur questions.

Also on a side note, is using a power hose to remove all the surface rust, tar and mud from the underside of the shell a good or bad idea? As I need to remove it all to ascertain what's rotten and what's not.

I would scrape off as much as you can dry first, then re assess
