Does anyone know the total rack travel (lock to lock) for a sportspack rack (2.7 turns) and a normal rack (2.7 turns), millimeters preferably?? Thanks in advance....

I can give you the width of the spacers that are fitted to a standard rack to bring it to sportspack spec if that helps.

That'll help, I can measure my sportspack later on and work it out....cheers

Surely the sportspack doesn't have 2.7 turns as (with the spacers in) it hits the stops 'early'

Just measured the sportspack and for anyone that's interested it's 80mm lock to lock.
Graeme I guess you are right, going on your theory it couldn't be 2.7 if the spacers cause a restriction. I think the point I was trying to make was that it wasnt a quick rack.

Yes. They did that in our local factory from the Mid 80's on for the UK racks that were fitted to our big wheel (13") Mokes. The spacers were 8.0 to 8.4 mm thick, made from round mild steel stock, then cut in half and tacked in place. Be very careful not to get too much heat in to the joint on the rack as it does have a hardened outer cup and the seat is nylon.

Some people use a medium strength plastic like Delrin. The load applied when in action is compressive. I have seen the plastic variety with screws on other vehicles.
Many ways to skin a cat. They all work.
