Recently bought a 1991 Mini.

So far began stripping parts off to find a lot of questionable wiring / botch jobs but thankfully very little rust!

My plan is to completely strip and respray before rebuilding.

Currently thinking Nardo Grey or an Old English white but would love to see some unique coloured minis for some inspiration!

Progress after 1 day on the car:

So after a few weeks of cleaning and small jobs i have the front subframe back in and the rear out. I have some lowered spax shocks to go on but waiting on a couple of rubbers that had perished over the years. Here's the progress... oh and welded in mk1 conversion plates.

Nice project you got there! Nice to know you don't have too much rust but as you're going to take it apart have good look in the corners too. 😊

I would suggest Ermine White (matt) with shiny black roof & details...

Don't look too close, it took a beating for 12 years being driven every day and as my first build and not knowing anything about bodywork at the time, didn't know of cavity wax... Currently in line for a rebuild...

Looks like a good start for a project - lots done for just one day too haha. I like the sound of grey or white for it - afaik, some later cars were offered in 'Yukon Grey', which is pretty close to Nardo Grey, and looks really good I think. Definitely good for getting an idea of what it could look like

I used to think it always looked like primer with lacquer over the top, it's growing on me now!

I wouldn't bother with carbon effect. It never looks good. Black roof would look good!

Been busy over the past few weeks. Built my own sandblasting tank - cleaned up lots of bits including the front subframe and started painting. Going to start work on the body work to try and get it to paint ASAP.
