Hi can anyone help please! I have a 53 plate mini. When I drive through small puddles or there is a lot of surface rain my mini looses power. No warning lights come on the dashboard. I put my foot hard down on the accelerator and it does nothing for several seconds and then gets power back for a few seconds and then foes the same again. It tends to continue doing this until whatever the problem is either dries out or the water goes! It's been for a diagnostic test and nothing was found. It also didn't do it for them when they drove through a puddle! It doesn't always do it to me but most of the time. Typical it didn't do it for the mechanic though! Csn anyone help. I've spent a small fortune on it recently and hope it's done thing very small as I can't afford to throw much more money at it, although I do love my mini. I'm desperate! Csn anyone help please!

Welcome to The Mini Forum, while some of the member do own the BMW variety of mini, this forum is predominantly Classic mini orientated. You might get a faster response from http://www.<span sty...ni2</span>.com/

The only thing I can suggest is that you have a look behind the grill and at the front and give any wires a good spray with something like WD40 as it sounds like a connection is getting wet and is effectively reducing electrical input. If it was a classic mini I would suggest spraying the distributor cap, and spark plug leads. You may also want to try posting your problem up on www.mini2.com or www.totalmini.com which are sites for the BMW variant mini as this forum is predominantly for classic mini's. They may have encountered this problem and have a better chance of guiding you to the solution. Good luck.

On the BINNI the "Brain" or ECU is located in the drivers side wheel well. This is prone to getting wet, only way to fix is either wrap it in a bin bag or sell your BINNI + buy a MINI
