Dear all,
after 4 years of owning my mini (1978 998), here in Belgium, I've decided to take the path of least resistance:
Every year, I take my (well cared) for mini to the MOT, where it passes (almost), without a hitch - as a normal road car.
I've just returned from its' fifth visit, this time, enrolling it as an 'Oldtimer' - Classic car of more than 25 years.
The highly reduced test involves; tyres, lights & brakes. No more emissions tests!
Purely to reduce my insurance from €300 to €100.
Can't understand why the Belgium dvla think older cars need reduced controls.? Surely they need more.? Or at least the same.
So I'm €200 better off per year, and fiddling with the carb. an hour before I go to the MOT is a thing of the past..
And I still have too pay road tax: €35 a year!
Will still keep caring for it, and be vigilant over it's road-worthiness. Others, as you can imagine really take the **** when it comes to the condition of their older cars.
Sorry, but I don't know if the Police regularly stop these idiots.?
Ready for the weekend!!!
