Anyone know of a decent garage local to Thurrock as don't really want to take it to a standard garage in case they just pull it apart for no reason to earn money ?

They should all test to the same rules. If they fail it on something that you disagree on the get a complaint form.

They can not remove anything. They can only test what they can see.

Get online and read through the MOT test procedure and make sure you are happy that your car is upto it.

If you are not able to do that then......

I understand that most local councils transport departments can do MOT's, but they are not allowed to repair anything, so you get a straight MOT with no quotes for work that's not needed, I'm very suspicious of half price or less MOT's, because compared to their normal labour rates its too cheap, so I suspect they're looking for work.

Also have a look at,

I'm fortunate in that I use a small locally family run garage for MOT's, they don't do me any favours for the MOT, but a proper straight one, they adjust headlights etc. for free.

I've got no doubts in the car what so ever all has been check properly etc but only worry is that some of these garages can be abit careless about what there doing and don't take into consideration that the car is a old classic if you get where I'm coming from

Agree with this. Why do they think that the front footwells can support the weight of the front of the car? It's so annoying to see the floor caved In when they have used the slinging brackets to lift the car.

If you don't mind travelling to Canvey, I'd recommend 'Little Legends Mini Services'.

Jamie is a friendly guy that just restores and services mini's only and can mot too.
