Dear All

I was wondering whether anyone could please provide me with a valuation for this vehicle? It was purchased by my grandmother, second hand,

in 1965. (I have the original invoice.) It has a mileage of 29,844 miles and the last tax disc, which is still attached to the vehicle, expired on

30th April 1980. After that time, the car was driven round the block to keep the engine ticking over until July 1995, when my grandmother

passed away. Since then, it has sat in a garage.

I have only just begun to attempt to find out how much the vehicle is worth and have, thus far, only had one valuation from a specialist

classic mini garage. I have also requested a valuation from a classic car auctioners today (COYS in London, which is close to where I live),

but don't know whether this is a market they even cover.

If anyone could provide me with a rough valuation that would be great. Failing that, if anyone could give me any further advice about how

best to get it valued, that would be great too.

The attached photos were taken at two separate times. The first time the red front seat covers were attached, the second time they

were removed, hence the difference in colour of the fronts seats in some of the photos.

Many thanks

Quite alot of money. Is the car movable at all? so you could give us some side on photos of it in the daylight.

but at a glance anything for 8k upwards. if you have all details to link to the mileage and its rust free it could be alot more

Thanks for your reply Lawrence. The car literally hasn't moved from the garage since July 1995 so I'm not

sure whether I could physically push it out to get some photos in the sunlight.

The mileage I don't know about. My grandmother didn't drive much (it took her 7 attempts to pass her driving

test) and my great uncle always serviced it so there's no garage documentation. I doubt it has much rust

though (other than that visible on the photos) because it was always kept in the garage from 1965 onwards.

If possible, can you please let me know where you got the £8k figure from? I've checked Practical Classic's

(http://www.practical...s.co.uk/guides/) March 2017 price guide:

(https://static1.squa...uide Mar 17.pdf)

and it says it's worth £2750.

I've also checked Hagerty Insurance (https://www.hagertyi...classiccarvalue), and the valuation

isn't 100% clear to me but I think it's saying it's worth £6300 and would only be worth £8k if if were already

in good condition

Any more feedback would be greatly appreciated please Lawrence because, as of now, I'm rather

confused.

Thanks

Lovely car with a lovely story!

Personally I'd say 8k was on the high side for an unrestored non running car. there's a beautiful mk1 on the mk1 forum for 11k

So I'd say 6k was more it's value but saying that if you put it up for sale at auction who knows

Good luck with what ever you do with it

The figure is just going on a genuine low mileage mk1 mini with good condition bodywork and completely standard. Its what I've seen cars with a similar description and history.

I should have stated that I am assuming it is running and drivable at the price as it would not be sensible to sell this age car as a project car as you will lower its value considerably. An extremely sensitive restoration would bring about the best value

Personally I'd ask on Mk1-forum.net as well there's alot of people on there that know the market and earlier cars inside out

As Lawrence says above your best bet is to get the car running and give it a light re-commission if possible for best selling price

Thanks Rocket, I've taken your advice and registered there too.

It isn't really about getting the best possible price, rather what it's worth in it's current condition.

I'm sure they'll be able to give you a very accurate value on there

Good luck with it!
