Not me - I'm doing Wigton MC's White Heather.
It is a busy weekend for historics as it is also the Saltire which is a very popular event in the NESCRO calendar.

I'm out marshalling with Barrie 'Whizzo' Williams and Cec Offley. Cec is the guy for whom I did many Motoring News championship rallies in the early 1970's and who, later, drove, and crashed heavily, a 1275 Cooper 'S' I owned and prepared on the 1989 Pirelli Marathon when hurrying down an Alp in N. Italy.

There will be plenty of places to spectate.
Best bet would be to check the Tour of Cheshire official website.

The start is at the Bickerton Poacher on Saturday morning. There will be many tests at which spectators will be welcome and you can get the location of these at the start. Look on the 'Tour of Cheshire 2017' web site for more information including a full list of starters. There are over 75 entries. It will be a good day out.

Not all test locations are speccy friendly Pete. Best bet would be to do as suggested and get to the start and ask the organisers for spectator info. I think some info is posted up late on friday to avoid letting the competitors know where they are going.
You can probably be certain they'll go to a local cattle market.....maybe in Beeston

I checked the website and it said that no spectators were allowed because the event was held on private grounds
'Unfortunately, in order to ensure the safety on the event, there are NO places where public access is available - Please see the road section spectator guide (Buttons Below) when they are released on Friday March 3rd.
The special manoeuvrability tests are all held on private land with no general public access.'
I guess It will be Friday before the road sections are announced, but will they be competitive sections?

Maybe if you go to the start on Friday evening or early on Sat and offer to marshal you might get a nice control to marshal. It's god to be a part of it.
The finish is late on Sat afternoon, again at the Bickerton Poacher, with prizegiving at around 20-00 hours.

Ah, the Gremlin Rally, one of my favourites a few years back My Mini Cooper 'S' did well on that event once or twice. .
Dennis Cardell is an old friend of mine. I saw him last Friday at our lunch at Race-Retro.

What a great day out marshalling we had. At my control there were 3 of us, Cec Offley who was very successful in both Cooper 'S's and Sprites in the 1960's and Barrie Williams, known as Whizzo, who is the first person ever to win an international rally outright in a Coper 'S'.
We laughed all day and it was great to see these classic cars in action again.
A 1965 Porsche 911 was first overall with a Mk.1 Escort RS2000 in 2nd, the Escort was driven by the son of the winning Porsche driver.
A couple of Minis were going well, but not really in contention for a win.

Thought I saw you at the control near Beeston with Mr Williams
The roads were brilliant and I have never done such a friendly event. It's totally different to a modern road rally that myself and my navigator were used to. The tests were great fun and we managed 24th on one of them. Our plotting wasn't spot on in a couple of places but by the coffee break we had improved on our start number of 73 and were placed at 61st.
We missed a couple of controls before lunch and had dropped down a bit.
Sadly We were involved in a collision on the 2nd to last regularity and had to retire. Bit of an anti climax after the hours of work involved to change the car to meet the regulations but I cannot fault what was one of the best events I have done. I have to say thanks to Julia who agreed to navigate with me, when the car is fixed we will both be back to try again !!!

Never mind, so long as you enjoyed it overall.
Yes, I was with Williams and Cec Offley at the Secret Check near Beeston.
We had a lot of fun. as usual, and helped with the award presentations.
Hope you soon get the car fixed.
