Hi all

I'm wanting to add some more width to my mini, I currently have 145/70/12 all round but the wheels just look too skinny for my likings.

Is there any other variants out there to give me more width without having to go upto 13"?

I've got some pretty basic arches on that cover the wheels I have at present so will need to get new ones to cover any wider.

Ideally with a 'deep dish' kinda style.

Much ta
Matt

Ah man I wish!
I've got some 10: steelies in my garage just sitting there that I thought about doing.
Cheapest I can find them is £60 per wheel. Plus then they need paying afterwards.

Well the tyres I've got are 145/70/12 think that equates to roughly 5j?
The tyres sit pretty flush on the wheel face.

The other trouble I have is finding tyres to fit new banded steels.

NO that is the tyre size not the wheel size. what does it say on the back of the wheel?

4J 4.5J 5J 5.5J 6J if you already have 5 ,5J or 6J you might get away with just new tyres rather than wheels and tyres.

Ah got you. I'll whip them off later and have a look. Is it just stamped on the back of the wheel somewhere?

You can get a wider look without banded steel, there are 3 important parts for me

Rim width

Tyre width

Wheel offset (ET)

Since the widest tyre you can get for 12" wheels is 165 I think a 5J rim is fine, or your rims will start looking wider than the tyres - which is a style preference I know. I prefer the rubber to look 'beefier'

If you're gonna buy new wheels ET will be the most important thing for you, as this is how much the wheels stick out, or tuck into the wheel arches. I think standard is ET34 or something close. If you buy ET14 wheels, they will poke out 2cm extra.

Look at http://www.willtheyfit.com/ and have a play about

What about some nice 12x6 deep dish wheels? They fill out the arch yet they still handle pretty well

I ran 12x6 superstar alloys with regular grp2 arches. The wheels stuck out a little, but passed many an MOT fine.

That is an option but it's finding some I like as I don't like the minilite style wheels.

Really need to get round to fitting the new donuts I've got and have a play arond
