Hi Guys,

There was a British owned car company in Barbados called Evolution Cars which made the CariMoke. These were fiberglass built mini Mokes made in the 90ies, the 12th one from the "production line" in 1996 which I am about to purchase.

They had the 998cc engine in them and a few are still on the road running.

The one I am getting has an engine which had overheated, I am thinking of rebuilding if there is no sever damage if not, I would like to drop in a 1293 or 1275 engine in it.

There are a few of the classic Mini's around here, but was looking to see if there were engines for sake in the UK. I would have preferred to get an entire car for parts..will have to see about cost to get that here.

Will be looking at the forums here for specs and other info as I tear it down to rebuild.

Cheers.

Funnily enough I've driven a mini moke in Barbados and it was my first mini driving experience.
We hired it from a centre with 4 or 5 to rent, took it up the mountain roads on the north side? Of the island , unfortunately the tickover was set very high so we were drinking fuel so had to coast downhill to save fuel due to the lack petrol stations on Barbados.
Might be worth doing the gearbox if first time mini drivers may also have used it, if it was a hire vechile.

If I'm not mistaken that is a Jimini kit car. Still in production in the UK.

Are you sure that the Jimini is still in production? The web site is utterly decrepit and looks as if it has been abandoned for years. It still has links, now broken, to SVA instead of IVA.

Sad, because I remember these when they were new, and if it can be made to pass IVA (maybe impossible?), it would be a nice way of getting the remnants of a dead Mini back into use.

As far as know, it is not produced now. I looked after the company, becuse I am looking for a tailgate to a Jimini.

If anyone nows something, please feel free to cantact me! :)

Thx

 Gabor
