Next time just finish him off and dump his corpse in the woods. It will save tax payers money and possibly cause you less hassle. I've learnt this the hard way.

Back in 2012 (as some of you may remember as I put it on here) I had three youngsters attack me and try and rob me. After getting back up onto my feet and walking into my house (a matter of yards away), I picked up a tea towel to stop the bleeding, a 3' breaker bar and went after the little s***es.

Long story short. 7 months later I get called back to Coventry Police station where I get an almighty verbal b*****king from the police. Fortunately I didn't receive anything more than that as I never managed to catch any of them or inflict any injuries (if I had I wouldn't have bothered phoning the police afterwards). I asked them had they managed to catch them and the answer was no. They've never been caught.

My point to my post is, good on you for getting him but don't be surprised if there is some potential backlash afterwards. While you've not caused any injuries by the sound of it and so have nothing to fear in the long term, expect to be called back to the police station for another interview and have your time wasted.

Its a good point, my brother came back from the pub one night and caught somebody in his mini hotwiring it. Whilst "evicting" the thief he hit his head on the B post and got a laceration. My brother sat on him until the Police arrived. They both got arrested and my brother was told he could be prosecuted for actual bodily harm.

Luckily the thief didn't press charges. In the country, they always say farmers dig deep holes. Its a good saying...

The only reason you'd be called back is for a full statement or the scum had pressed charges for ABH.

You're lucky to catch him and get it all on camera! But well done for keeping hold of the little SOB!!

I was at my folk's when they got broken into. Heard something knock on the back door, looked down from upstairs and saw a lad with a hoody and a crowbar, kind shocked me as i felt trapped. Anyway, the lad got in, i got my camera, took a photo of him as i crept downstairs. I'm not a small bloke, so when he got into the front room, i tapped him on the shoulder then he 'proceeded to hit his head against the door frame as he hurried to escape'. 'It' broke his nose and his jaw in 2 places. He tried to press charges on so called door frame, but as he was carrying a 'weapon' which i had evidence for and there was no evidence either way, he was jailed.

Good job mate, well done for keeping hold of the tw*t!  Its ridiculous that these days we have to "worry" about being charged for defending our property.  I've chased a bunch of 'youths' on a few occasions for messing with my car or pinching stuff from my garden and always get a boll*cking from the wife with 'what if scenarios' - suppose its just as well that my knackered knee stops me from catching the sods!!

Despite getting called back to the police station after my incident, it hasn't changed the way I would deal with an attacker or robber.

What's going to be more of a deterrent. A few months in a young offender institute or broken bones.

I think the three lads got a bit of a shock when a minute later I was sprinting after them wielding a 3" breaker bar.

You held it together well, I'd have laid him out and said he went for me. Scum.

Yeah I did, the copper asked me if I gave him a slap, I said no because he hadn't hit me .... if he had hit me, it might have been a different outcome for him....

I caught one trying to get into my mates mk2 Cooper parked behind my house, he'd already snapped the Ariel I'd only just replaced on the wife's then quite new SPI cooper and had his hands all over my mk3 Cooper replica 86 mayfair, said he was just having a wee! Went to court he got a small fine and it turned out he'd done it loads of times mainly found drunk and asleep in other people's cars. Wazak.

So....

Wife went to her parents house about 10:15 because they are getting on a bit now and she hasnt seen them for a week or so....

I was upstairs in our bedroom...

I had just got changed into my scruffs, because Im doing a bit of decorating in my sons room, thought Id just check email and have a quick look on Ebay....

Dog started to bark, he does this if the wind changes direction - but I looked on the CCTV cameras anyway and saw nothing, so thought nothing of it....

A minute or so went by, and out the corner of my eye I saw a shadow... thinking that maybe my middle lad had come home from school early... went to see what he came home for... some fella was stood with his back to me, then turned round... honestly I **** meself, then andrenalin started to kick in, I grabbed hold of him and started to ask questions like... who the F are you....? What the F are you doing in my sons room etc.... He said he was a taxi driver and his fair had just run off from him and he was looking for someone called John... I escorted him via his throat down the stairs to find this 'taxi'... then he said his 'mate' was driving the taxi and must have drove off finding this fella called John...

We went outside, saw no taxi, he started to struggle and plead with me to let him go and he couldnt breathe... I wasn't letting him go, nor was I loosening my grip of him.... went back into my house to get my phone to call police, he started pushing me back, I dragged him outside again and threw him to floor... Now anyone thats ever met me will tell you Im not exactly big, maybe a bit fat but not big, Im 5'5 1/2 and 14 stone.... at this point there was a neighbour walking by with her dog and baby in pram, she stopped and saw what had happened and asked do I need Police, yes was the answer.... she called the Police and went about her business.... I had him pinned up against our front fence and front of our house with my elbow on his throat and my other hand gripping his coat.... I loosened my grip a little bit as he was turning blue and gasping for breath, as he started to sit down he pushed me away from him and pissed off.... I chased after him, I cant run and he was getting away from me, fortunately another neighbour must have heard the shouting etc... and saw this fella running from me.... he rugby tackled him to the ground, thankfully... I caught up and knelt on his chest, this time I wasnt gonna let go of him if he turned blue or any other colour... I dragged him back to my house and waited for the Police to turn up.... it fealt like ages but was only a couple of minutes of that....

Anyhoo the long and short of it, a scumbag is off the street, Im not hurt - I cant say that he isnt...

Iv had the Police onto me this morning telling me that he was kept in custody overnight, he will be going to court today, and confident he will get a couple of years away.

He's been charged with a number of offences, as he'd been into someone else's house before coming to mine....

It seems that just googling his name has brought up a few things about him, he just doesn't learn, do they ever....?

He's called Neil (cant tell you his full name for legal reasons)

Sorry for the long post....

:-)  well done fella, I'm Sure I wouldn't of been that restrained.  :whistling:
