My mini don't have any sound proofung so it's very hard to travel with my wife. I try to sell my wife but i have no lucky... xD

Can you please tell me some ideas to install a good sound proofing in my mini?

Classic Mini Car Soundproofing Kit covers the following areas (materials):-

  • Bonnet Lid (NoiseKiller Vibrasorb)
  • Bulkhead (NoiseKiller Sound Barrier/Barrier Mat)
  • Interior Front Footwells (NoiseKiller Sound Barrier)
  • Sides of Transmission Tunnel (NoiseKiller Sound Barrier)
  • Rear Footwells (NoiseKiller Sound Barrier Barrier Mat)
  • Under Rear Seat (NoiseKiller Sound Barrier)
  • Front and Rear Wheel Arches (NoiseKiller Barrier Mat)
  • Rear Side Wings (NoiseKiller Barrier Mat)
  • Under Spare Wheel (NoiseKiller Barrier Mat)
  • Fuel Tank (NoiseKiller Barrier Mat)
  • Under Boot Carpet (NoiseKiller Sound Barrier)
  • Door Skins (NoiseKiller Barrier Mat)

Engine Bay

All engine bay parts use our waterproof Noise Killer Vibrasorb material. This is self adhesive with a damping sheet to reduce bonnet vibrations and an open cell Class “0” acoustic foam to absorb engine noise. The foil facing gives a wipe clean maintenance surface which also protects the bonnet lid against heat discolouring.

Interior of Vehicle

Noise Killer Sound Barrier is under the carpets in the front and rear footwells inside the vehicle and Barrier Mat along the side of the transmission tunnel. These pads help to reduce road and transmission noise as well as under body vibrations. A pad is placed under the rear seat to reduce exhaust noise and vibrations as well as the side wings.

Boot Section

Noise Killer Barrier Mat is adhered to the rear wheel arches, under the spare wheel, and the fuel tank area.

Noise Killer Sound Barrier is placed under the boot carpet to reduce the road and exhaust noises and body vibrations.

This kit was featured in Mini World November 2015.

I used Dynamat all through my daily sportspack rebuild, and it works a treat, compared to that of my weekend toy that has only a smidge. However, dont expect miracles from it, with a playmini exhaust its still loud by modern standards, but manageable to have a convo at 85mph.

Im thinking of intercom for the other one, with an SC box and louder engine, it's either that or add weight and dynamat it.

I don't complain, but the mrs does.. alot.. >_<

You need another Mini for going out with the Wife duties, something fairly standard that you can hold a conversation in.  Keep your tuned monster with strait cut box and stiffened lowered suspension for solo missions.

My mini is just over 90 decibels inside, I've disconnected the radio because it's pointless!

Sound insulation will be my next project...

hehehe i spend all my money in this and now i can't buy another mini :/

I see some videos and mpi minis are very good with soundproofing... It's only the soundproofing that was good or the engine bay (carbs vs injection)? I have my car with standard air box without holes...

Thanks

Soundproofing the bulkhead will make a good difference, late cars like mpi's have soundproofing in the engine bay and on the dash side all the way to the floor.
Lots more elsewhere but that keeps most of the direct engine noise out.
