Hi I've had a Clarke 230 tec in my shed for about 6 years I'd say. I was brand new never used I just took it out of the box when I.bought it. Today I dug it out of the shed to use it for the first time. I put it all together and turned it on - all powered up fine. Pulled the trigger and the motor feed doesn't turn. I can manually rotate it. I can see the fan spinning and the relay clicking in and out but nothing from the motor. Does anyone have a clue about these things ? Any suggestions welcome. I tried the welding forum too but no replies and I'm desperate to get welding my mini
Thanks Jon

We have the opposite issue when the drive motor runs continually. Now this is a different machine but i reckon its down to something being corroded either in the motor or the PCB. Our workshop does get damp plus i do know it worked fine before hand, just had an issue with the pressure clamp.

Check the trigger mechanism first to make sure there is nothing amiss inside there, very straight fwd to do. After that then it needs someone with a tester to check there is power going to the motor.

Have you set the correct tension on the wire?

Motor feed is not turning he said. The feed roller will turn no matter what.

Thanks. Yes the trigger operates the relay fine so assume that's ok. It's just come out of the wrapping.
I've seen your fault on a welding forum I think it was something to do with the motor isolation ??

Tension....tried it extremely loose and with no wire just to get the motor turning but nothing. Just the relay ??!!

To me its either the relay not working correctly or a power feed issue. You need a sparky to check the feed from the relay to the motor at the very minimum.

Thats the problem. Even though a shed maybe relatively dry moisture can still affect electronics and the fact its never been used it may have come from the factory like it.

It appears I have a fault on position 2 of the heat setting! 1,3,4,5&6 workgreat but if you select 2 the feed motor doesn't turn !

Now this could be down to either an internal fault or the lack of use
