Hi I have a new 1293cc minisport engine with Aldon engineering Distributer. Aldon actually set the engine up for me but it is running very rich, tick over is at 1200 and the spark plugs are very sooty, black. Anyone suggest what I may do, or have experience of this set up. The engine has only run for 87miles in total  and 15 miles since this time last year.

I would ring Aldon / Minisport for advise before you do any more miles, they are the guys who did the work for. Did they advise you on the running in procedures regarding a new engine.

You need to see what the mixture is set at URGENT before you bore wash your new engine and ruin it, If your not far from Aldon then ring them with your concern, its normal to run a bit weak while running in and then set it up for max power

I would ring MiniSport first as it is their engine. If you purchased it as a complete engine, they may have set rules in their warranty. Make sure you're sticking within their terms and conditions for warranty. Let them advise you. That way your back is covered. :)
