This topic has been covered to death so just a quick question please
Will this kit fit my bog standard 1989 998.

http://www.mm-4x4.co...-kit-2721-p.asp

I believe the distributor to be the correct but not 100%

Thanks in advance.
Andy

Your 88 998 should be fitted with a Lucas 59d Distributor and if so then the 45D kit is the same so Yes as long as its a 45/59d fitted, see my post in the FAQs on the fitting from start to finish including the correct way to wire it up

You are lucky not to have the utterly useless Ducellier distro at that age!

These timewasters should be thrown away and replaced by the appropriate Lucas.

Avoid Britpart like the plague.

It's definatly a Lucas and has the blue sliding points which I believe to be correct for the 59d. Only other kit I can find similar is the power spark one at £25 quid is that worth the premium?

You may want to look at this in the long term:

Their products are of far higher quality than most of the Mini suppliers.

For all intense purpose the britpart/accuspark and powerspark appear to be one and the same, I've not fitted any britpart one but plenty of powersparks one's and bar the odd isue of the trigger to rotor spacing they have been reliable. If you just change the trigger unit you get to keep the advance curve it came with, and they work well
