Hi Guys and Gals

I currently have a blue 2000 mpi cooper sport pack in great condition, it's done 34000 from new but i am toying with the idea to get the S works conversion. My question is should i go for it as it would add value and coolness or should i just keep as it is but just do some small upgrades like shocks and brake pads so as to keep it how it was supposed to be, if it would make the real s works owners turn there nose up at me i would'nt do it.

Thanks in advance for your advice

Aaron

It is your car and I would suggest do what floats your boat.

The only 'small' thing I'd add to that is in time, it's likely these cars in original condition will gain considerably in price, more than most other models, not in the next year or two, but in probably 10 years+ - assuming the world still has petrol and roads then!

stage 3 kit takes its to about 85bhp from a factory 67bhp about but about 2.5kjust make sure you get the old bit back and save them all heard the best thing do is change the final drive.

mine's 2000 sports pack  will be stage 3 this year and ive changed every thing else or will have this year. I like it a lot better

Maybe i'll keep it as it is. i think i'll still upgrade the shocks and put some better brake pads in but keep the original

Can't really see this type of kit would make alot of difference to the cars value because it's not something that everyone's got as long as you keep all the original parts it's only bolt on anyway

I say go for it!

You are certainly paying a premium for the name but then thats the point....I think its a nice addition to the late MPIs, if its what you want then go for it.  I miss my old works and the little extras certainly made me smile.

If I could afford it I would have that in preference to a 'normal' stage 3 kit.

There just enough cashe to be worth the extra in my mind

The Cooper conversion will probably be an exception though, as it was available from Rover at the time it's more of an official authorised modification, I doubt it'd bring any cars value down vs a stock model.

People are asking stupid money for the S works models originally sold by Cooper, which are essentially the same thing really.
