Thought I'd better start a project thread for my red one. It's a 998 1991 rover mini. It started life as a studio 2 and at some point, fairly recently, was very roughly resprayed in red. I'll be doing it as a rolling restoration up until i get to replacing the floor and I'll hopefully have the blue one on the road by then. Just reminded myself of the old milky way advert!:-)

It will take a bit longer than I'd hoped but will just repair a bit at a time. So long as it's back on the road for the end of may, I'll be happy

It looks like I forgot to update this thread after finishing off rebuilding the front flitch and a panels. So, heres a couple of after pics taken just before I started stripping down the car.

Drivers side all rebuilt.

Passenger side rebuilt.

Attached File  WP_20180211_11_58_23_Pro.jpg   29.04K   2 downloads

Now the strip down begins.

Face off! There isn't much, if any, metal left underneath the headlights.

Attached File  WP_20180211_12_55_26_Pro.jpg   51.13K   5 downloads

Took the rear headlamp out and theres something wrong with the rear arch, I just can't quite put my finger on it ;)

I'm not sure about the bumper ?rail? but doesn't appear to look too bad around the bottom of the boot.

I'm sure there will be some more horrors to come. To be continued...

Tonight I've emptied the boot. It's now ready for the subframe to be dropped.

Holes are bigger than expected.

I can see daylight through the rear arch.

And there don't appear to be any holes in the battery box which shouldn't be there.

Carried on with stripping the car down today by taking the engine out.

The engine mount bolts were a right pita to get too!

Dropped the front sub frame and started cutting away the front panels to assess how many panels i'll be needing.

Both inner wings need work and possibly full replacement.

Removed all of the glass and doors today, plus another few bits and bobs.

Cut the front panel off as well.

And the bulk head cross member has quite a bit of rust on it. Heres hoping that it is only surface rust!
