My Daughter's 1976 Mini 1000 needs a new radiator and I want one with a drain tap on the bottom. I found a number of alloy ones on eBay for £50 e.g. http://www.ebay.co.u...AUAAOSwOgdYtn0X

Has anybody bought one and fitted it? Is it any good as I'm assuming it's from China.

Thanks, Paul.

Have a friend running one for now on 18 months, no problem. Welding is ugly as homemade sin, but the bonnet covers he is also running a electric fan vs. the yellow plastic.

That looks identical to the rad fitted in mine, even the drain plug is the same and the overflow pointing towards the bulkhead.I find it runs supercool or my temp gauge is knackered which I very much doubt. Never had a problem and impressed with it.Was already fitted to the car when purchased tho.

Worked fine the one I got. Cost £43. 4K miles no issues. I have noticed plastic topped ally ones for minis on eBay now too, wonder what they are like

I've got a eBay special for my 60 haven't fitted it yet so can't comment on running property's but it looks good all the welding looks neat and well done. the only thing I dont like is the pressure cap it one of those modern little things so I might just break out the TIG welder and put a different one.

Cheers, Paul.

Mine was spot on from eBay. As said welding isn't perfect. I had to file a corner down on the weld as it was touching the wing and stopped it fitting properly but a small fix for a perfectly good cheap rad.

Bought one for my mpi as the alloy one worked out cheaper than a new oem one, had it in for some years now and no issues but as stated welding is a bit sketchy

I've had mine for a year now, no issues. Just did 600 miles in Texas heat and it ran right smack in the idle of the gauge.....I'm a happy camper.

I won't elaborate too much, I've posted the full explanation a while ago on here and don't want to keep boring people to death with it, but there S à Big différence between corrosion inhibitors in coolant for brass/copper rads and alloy rads. Typically blue and red.

Ah okay I'm guessing the old blue stuff is not for alloy rads then?
