Hi, I bought a standard 12v cigarette lighter off ebay looking to wire it in the front of my 1980 998 mini. It has an inline fuse in it which I think is 10amps. I've realised that there is a spare wire behind the heater which I think is meant for a radio. If I connect this to the positive end of the accessory and then the negative end to a solid metal part of the car, will this be enough for me to get power for use if I wanted to charge a phone or use a sat nav or a portable radio? My electronic knowledge is basic so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

As long as that wire you have is a 12v positive then yes it should work as you have described
