Hi there,

The bumper on my 1998 mini is showing signs of rust all along it (small brown dots all along in the chrome finish) and I think it is time for a replacement but before I pull the trigger, is this the right part to go for?;

Thanks!

Yes, you get what you pay for and these are good.

Forgot to mention this is going to be a front bumper, still the right item?

Yes, front or rear fitment.

Some cheap bumpers don`t fit the front very well but the minispares item fits great.

Scrunch up some tin foil and dip it in vinegar. Scrub bumper , et voila, much better, all those little rust specs disappear

Yeah man think front and rear are the same, both have three bolts one on each end and one in the middle. 🙂

Wow thanks for the tip, worked really well, pretty much all of the rust has gone bar one deeper scratch, do you have any idea how long this fix works for or will the rust be back soon?

Thanks!

Give it a few coats of clear lacquer and the rust may not be back for quite some time.

Glad it worked out for you M0U5EY

I usually just rub wax into the bumpers after and then just give them a buff when waxing the car,

I hadnt thought of lacquer but im no expert on painting stuff i'd probably make a mess of it
