Sadly the last of the London Stadiums hosted its last Spedeworth motorsport event last month as planning permission has been granted for demolition of the historic but run down venue, to make way for housing and a new football stadium on the Plough Lane site. :(

Here is a video from happier times when I was a regular visitor to our local London track back in the 1970's :mrcool:

Sad as said! only been to Wimbledon a couple of times as far as I remember was in the

late 70s and early 80s , enjoyed watching the video having been involved in both forms

of motor sport at the time, rebuilt  the  bodywork and painted this on a regular basis,

I believe it was ex Barrie Lee Escort must ask my brother whom owned and raced it.

One of my other brothers raced a F1 Stockcar at Wimbledon regularly at the time also

How sad, I used to go as a kid as both my uncles raced f1 stockcars in the late 80's early 90's. Watching some great racing I used to love it!

I live in Walthamstow and we lost our dog track to the same fate, apparently 'luxury' flats opposite a massive supermarket. Catford went the same way a few years ago... Sad but I think people are less interested in going to the dogs or stock cars unfortunately...
