After welding I've been putting hammerite kurust over the weld seams to minimise rust and I was wondering if I can put tiger seal or brushable sealant straight over the top of the kurust?

And regarding body filler, do I have to have a layer of primer over the kurust, then the filler on top? Or can filler be applied straight over the top of the kurust?

Thanks

In a word no. You need a primer so use Epoxy. Also as much as i used to use Kurust, Bilt Hamber Deox is by far a more superior product.

After welding, I prime, then seam seal, then prime again. I use Bilt Hamber Electrox primer, expensive but good. I use a cartridge seam sealer and initially used Tiger Seal. It's a good product but went hard in the tube after one session. After recommendations on the Mig forum, I started using this one from Toolstation:

http://www.toolstati...p85566?table=no

It will still go hard in the tube, but it's only £4.

I have tried the various recommended solutions - wrap in cling film, keep warm, stand in hot water before use etc.- and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Try to time it so you have a lot of seam sealing to do in one go, rather than just a bit, then at least you will use most of the tube in one go.

Yes in a word. Bare in mind to follow the instructions to the letter when using the Bilt Hamber Deox gel and make sure its bone dry afterwards.
