Might replace cv whilst all apart though, and hang on for your timkens!

Yeah be good to change em now! I've got a few cv joints and guna hound my supplier for timkens asap

Fitted new cv joint but still slight play so have now ordered some timken bearings. Think I'll use Moke Spiders guide and measure up the hub for wear. Hopefully it's just cheap bearings giving me grief!

When you get the new cvs slide the drive flange on and check the fit

Finally got rid of the play. Get straight to the point in a hope it may help someone else one day! Just removed one of the thinnest shims from Upper balljoint. I couldn't really see any movement beforehand but guess it just wasn't quite tight enough. Live and you learn! What a bell end! Just glad to be finally able to move on to the next problem!!

Are you very sure that your ball joint is still moving freely throughout its travel? If it is tight, that is far more hazardous than slightly loose wheel bearings.
