Hi, how would we go about doing this? My dad has just bought an Austin A35 project, the old gent who parted with it has owned it since the early 80s, but he said for as long as he can remember he hasn't seen the logbook (but he says he definitely did have one originally)

The car is totally standard, we have the reg, vin etc, but how do we go about applying for one? Just send a letter and current photos to DVLA explaining thag the chap we just bought the A35 from lost it many years ago?... Also is there a charge?

Thanks!

Brilliant, seems simple enough. Shame we have no papers or even just the little green slip, but £25 is better than I was expceting anyway!

Some on Mk1 Forum thread below have been having problems since DVLA seems to have recently tightened up on issuing replacement V5/V5c for old cars:-
